Most customers that order Industrial PCs have one hope; that it is delivered fully configured and operational. What they don’t know is that there are so many different configurations available, they must be very specific regarding the exact configuration they require.
I decided to make a list of what should be accounted for when ordering a Rack mount/Wall mount/Desktop PC, Touch Panel Computer, Embedded PC or Panel PC. I hope this will enable you to make the best selection based on your application requirements.
If you’re in the market for an Industrial Rack Mount, Wall Mount or Desktop PC:
- Select appropriate desktop/wall mount/rack mount chassis
- Select appropriate power supply
- Select motherboard or single board computer & passive backplane (depending on I/O and processor required)
- Select processor & CPU fan
- Select memory (remember – anything over 4GB requires Windows 7 Pro 64-bit)
- Select appropriate storage (hard drive or SSD)
- DVD-ROM/DVDRW (optional)
- Select Operating System
- Make sure system is assembled & tested
- Keyboard & mouse (if required)
- Monitor (if required)
- Power option is typically 120V AC
Touch Panel Computers & Embedded PCs require the following:
- Processor and memory are typically included
- Select appropriate storage (hard drive, CF or SSD)
- Select Operating System
- Make sure system is assembled & tested
- Power option can be 24V DC or 120V AC
- Order flat panel monitor for Embedded PC (if required)
Panel PCs require the following:
- Select processor
- Select memory (anything over 4GB requires Windows 7 Pro 64-bit)
- Select appropriate storage (hard Drive or SSD)
- Select Operating System
- Make sure system is assembled & tested
- Power option can be 24V DC or 120V AC
I think that pretty much sums it up, but if I have missed anything or you still have questions about what you may or may not need based on your specific Industrial PC requirements, please feel free to contact me at 1-800-830-9523. I’d be happy to help.
